Crowns and Bridges
Crowns and bridges in Vellimadukunnu, Kozhikode
Ceramic and zirconia crowns and bridges to rebuild broken or heavily filled teeth, and to replace missing ones. A crown caps and protects what is left of a tooth; a bridge spans a gap using the teeth on either side for support.

When this treatment is usually needed
If any of these sound familiar, it is worth being examined. None of them is a diagnosis on its own — several different problems can produce the same symptom.
- A tooth that has cracked or broken
- A back tooth that has just had a root canal
- A very large old filling that keeps failing
- A single missing tooth with healthy teeth either side
How we do it here
The specifics that shape your visit, rather than a generic description of the procedure.
- Ceramic and zirconia options discussed before you decide
- Shade matched to the teeth around it
- Commonly recommended after a root canal on a back tooth
- Written estimate before any preparation begins
How the visit usually goes
Every step is explained before it happens, so nothing arrives as a surprise.
- 1Assessment
We check how much sound tooth structure remains, and whether a crown or a bridge is the better answer.
- 2Preparation and impression
The tooth is shaped and a digital or conventional impression taken.
- 3Temporary cover
A temporary is fitted while the laboratory makes the final restoration.
- 4Fitting
The crown or bridge is tried in, checked against your bite, and cemented.
This page describes a dental procedure in general terms. It is not a diagnosis and not a treatment plan, and outcomes vary from person to person. What is right for you is decided after a clinical examination at the clinic. See our terms and medical disclaimer.
After your treatment
General aftercare. The instructions you are given at the clinic, for your own mouth, come first.
- While a temporary crown is on, avoid sticky and hard food on that side, and slide floss out sideways rather than pulling it up.
- Tell the clinic if the temporary comes off. It protects the prepared tooth and should go back on promptly.
- After the final crown is fitted, the bite may feel slightly different for a day. Call if it still feels high after that.
- Brush and clean between the teeth around the crown as normal. The tooth underneath can still decay at the edge.
- With a bridge, clean under the false tooth every day using floss threaders or small interdental brushes, as shown.
Questions we are actually asked
Ceramic or zirconia?
Both are tooth-coloured. Zirconia is generally chosen where strength matters most, such as back teeth. We talk through which suits your case before you decide.
Why do I need a crown after a root canal?
A root-treated back tooth becomes more brittle and takes the full force of chewing, so a crown is usually recommended to stop it fracturing.
How many visits?
Usually two — one to prepare and take the impression, one to fit — with a temporary in between.
How long does a crown last?
Crowns commonly last ten years or more, and many last much longer. Grinding, decay at the edge of the crown and gum disease are the usual reasons one needs replacing, so cleaning and check-ups matter.
